Peeking Into the Future: 5 Things You Should Know About Invisalign

Before you sign-up for a task, you probably try to find out more about what it would involve. Peeking into the future to figure out whether the effort would be beneficial or worthwhile to you is simply smart decision-making!

You might know that Invisalign can straighten out crooked teeth with convenience and discretion, but if you’re not sure what you would have to do during treatment, you should keep reading. This list will lay out five things you should know.

#1. You’ll Need to Brush Daily and Frequently

To keep Invisalign aligners clear and free from harmful bacteria build up, you’ll have to clean both your teeth and your trays fairly frequently. It’s generally recommended to brush your teeth after every meal to avoid getting food particles stuck in the trays and to rinse your aligners whenever you remove or reinsert them. This is all in addition to cleaning your trays in the morning and before bed, so keep that in mind!

#2. The Wear-Time is 22 Hours Per Day

When your dentist tells you to wear your aligners for 22 hours per day, they mean it. Invisalign is capable of straightening teeth more quickly than traditional braces but neglecting to wear them as instructed could make your teeth slide back out of alignment. If that happens, you’ll likely be looking at an extended treatment period.

#3. Tightness is Short-Lived

Like braces, Invisalign aligners do cause some dental soreness due to tightness and 3pressure. However, many patients report that their discomfort can be alleviated with over-the-counter pain relievers and doesn’t last for long. Some even say they only felt sore for half a day! You’ll likely not experience the same sort of discomfort as your braces-wearing peers.

#4. It Might be Difficult to Talk – At First

The human mouth is small, which means that small adjustments can make a big difference. Though Invisalign aligners are slim, for example, they’ll still feel strange in your mouth when you first insert them. You might have trouble talking around them at first. Don’t let this keep you down! With time and practice, you’ll get used to them, and speaking with your trays will be a breeze.

#5. Smart Supplies Will Help a Lot

Don’t underestimate the power of a good tool! Invisalign aligners can be pretty snug, which can sometimes make them tricky to remove. An aligner removal tool is specially designed to help you get to your lunch faster. Invisalign cleaning crystals can be dropped in a glass of water so you can give your trays a good soak, making them easier to clean. Even a water bottle can be a fantastic aid by preventing dry mouth. So keep your eyes and ears open for potential supplies!

There are some things you should know about an Invisalign treatment before you tell your dentist, “Yes, absolutely! Let’s go!” However, that doesn’t have to intimidate you. Knowing what to expect and preparing accordingly will go a long way towards promoting a smooth treatment process.
